The old bridge over the river Vertova, dating back to the 15th century, was restored in 2016 with the renovation of the pavement. The construction is called by the citizens of Vertova “Ponte di San Carlo” because originally presented to one of the publications an oratory dedicated to San Carlo Borromeo who, in 1575, had stopped in Vertova.
The bridge was built in stone after a fire started by the Guelphs in 1396 because Vertova was a Ghibelline town.
